Communication from the Permanent Mission of Australia

1. The CHAIRMAN said that the Committee had received a communication from the Permanent Mission of Australia, giving the text of a motion of reconciliation passed by the Australian House of Representatives and Senate on 26 August 1999, as well as references to other speeches on the subject of reconciliation between the various groups in Australian society. He welcomed the communication, which he saw as a positive move by the Government of Australia, and was sure that other positive moves would follow.
